Seattle Eesti Laulupidu
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Seattle Estonian Song Festival!
It was absolutely amazing – a little piece of Estonia came to Seattle, and it moved us deeply. We were honored to welcome the Estonian Radio Girls’ Choir and the Tartu University Mixed Choir from Estonia, alongside our local Mägi Ensemble, who together brought the spirit of the Song Festival to life. Huge thanks to everyone who helped make this beautiful evening possible.

See oli imeline – killuke Eestit jõudis Seattle’isse ja need lauluhääled puudutasid südameid. Meil oli suur rõõm tervitada Eesti Raadio Laulustuudio Tütarlastekoori ja Tartu Üliõpilassegakoori Eestist ning meie kohalikku Mägi Ensemble’i, kes tõid laulupeo vaimu Seattle'isse. Suur tänu kõigile, kes aitasid selle õhtu teoks teha.

Sala Laulu-Tantsupidu – July 4th, 2025, Fotografiska, Tallinn
The Foundation of Estonian Arts and Letters in the US is organizing a special event in Tallinn on July 4th, inviting all Estonians living abroad, those participating in ESTO, and their friends who will be in Tallinn for the Laulupidu festivities. The event will begin immediately after the last Tantsupidu performance, starting at 9 PM until 1 AM at Fotografiska in the Telliskivi district, near the Old Town.
The goal of the event is to bring together Estonians living abroad, providing them with an opportunity to meet, reconnect with old friends, and celebrate the contributions of the diaspora to Estonian culture. DJ Tom Lilienthal will play a mix of popular Estonian and international dance music, and there will be performances by folk dancers from the US. In the backyard of Fotografiska, there will be a sing-along led by Estonian-American-Canadian musicians, inviting everyone to join in and sing beloved Estonian songs.
Ameerikas tegutsev Eesti Kultuurifond korraldab 4. juulil Tallinnas ürituse, kuhu on kutsutud kõik väliseestlased, ESTO-s osalejad ja nende sõbrad, kes on Tallinnas Laulupeo ajal. Üritus algab kohe pärast viimase tantsupeo esinemist, kell 21:00–01:00, Fotografiskas, Telliskivi rajoonis, Vanalinna lähedal.
Ürituse eesmärk on tuua kokku väliseestlasi, pakkuda neile võimalust kohtuda, taastada vanad sõprussuhted ja tähistada väliseestlaste panust Eesti kultuuri. DJ Tom Lilienthal mängib tuntud Eesti ja rahvusvahelist tantsumuusikat, esinevad ka rahvatantsijad USA-st. Fotografiska tagahoovis toimub ühislaulmine, mida juhivad väliseesti-ameerika-kanada muusikud, kutsudes kõiki külalisi kaasa laulma armastatud Eesti laule.

Let’s get together and celebrate Midsummer at Golden Gardens! Since we can’t reserve fire pits, we’ll have to find a spot when we arrive. But don’t worry — you should be able to find a group of Estonians without much trouble!
What to bring:
There’s a playground for kids to enjoy, and we’ll have fun with games like Molky, soccer, and volleyball. Feel free to bring any other summer games you love! And if you play a musical instrument, bring it along — this is the perfect chance for a great audience!
We look forward to seeing you there!

Tuleme kokku ja tähistame Jaanipäeva Golden Gardensis! Kuna lõkkeplatse ei saa ette broneerida, peame kohapeal vaatama, kus oma koha leiame. Aga ära muretse – eestlaste grupi leidmine ei tohiks olla keeruline!
Mida kaasa võtta:
Lastel on mänguväljak, kus ringi joosta. Mängime Molkyt, jalgpalli, võrkpalli. Võta kaasa ka suve mänge, mida armastad! Kui sul on muusikariist, siis too see kaasa – meil on suurepärane publik!

SES Jõulupidu / Christmas party

It’s that time of year – our beloved Christmas party is almost here! Join us for an afternoon filled with joy, traditional foods, and music. We’ll have the choir and a singalong to bring out the holiday cheer! Jõuluvana will also make a special appearance to bring gifts for the children, so be ready with a poem or song to perform to receive the gift.
What to bring:
· A small gift for your child for Jõuluvana to deliver.
· A dessert to share.
· Cash (preferred) if you’d like to purchase anything from the Christmas market.
· If anyone would like to try making Estonian dishes and bring them to share at the Christmas party, let us know! Here are a few ideas:
o Õlles hautatud hapukapsas
o Pickled pumpkin
o Leivamiisu
o Kirju koer piparkookide ja šokolaadiga
o Mõdu (recipe attached)

Volunteers needed for the Christmas party!
Making the Christmas party a success takes a village, and we’d love your support:
· Kitchen helpers: We need at least 2-3 volunteers who can arrive at 12 pm to help around the kitchen with the preparations - boiling potatoes, heating up hapukapsas, making coffee, and setting up.
· Cleanup crew: We’re also looking for 2+ volunteers to stay a bit longer after the party to help tidy up.

The holiday season is now in full swing! Along with joining the ‘Jõulupidu’, there are a couple of ways to get involved with the Seattle Estonian Society:
· Join us for ‘verivorsti talgud’ on Dec 14th
· Volunteer to help with the jõulupidu on Dec 15th
· Let us know what you would like to see at the ‘Christmas marketplace’
Verivorsti talgud – making traditional blood sausages
When: Saturday, Dec 14 at 11 am
Where: Tiina and Don’s in Seattle (address provided upon RSVP)
Get your aprons ready – it’s time for sausage-making! This tradition is as fun as it is delicious, and it wouldn’t be the same without you. If you’re looking to join, email [email protected]. Please include whether you’ll be making stuffing and how much uncooked barley (if you want to use Estonian barley, please contact Marko [email protected]) you plan to use so we can plan accordingly. Attached are (one) (two) recipes you could use.
Light beverages and appetizers will be provided for sausage makers, and we’ll bake a few sausages for tasting at the end! We’ll also have icing for decorating gingerbread. Bring some cookies – homemade or store-bought – or use this recipe for inspiration: Estonian Christmas Recipes: piparkoogid aka Gingerbread Cookies.
What to bring:
· Aprons and slippers (we’re keeping it cozy!)
· Stuffing (if you’re bringing some)

Get your aprons ready – it’s time for sausage-making! This tradition is as fun as it is delicious, and it wouldn’t be the same without you. If you’re looking to join, email [email protected]. Please include whether you’ll be making stuffing and how much uncooked barley (if you want to use Estonian barley, please contact Marko [email protected]) you plan to use so we can plan accordingly. Attached are (one) (two) recipes you could use.
Light beverages and appetizers will be provided for sausage makers, and we’ll bake a few sausages for tasting at the end! We’ll also have icing for decorating gingerbread. Bring some cookies – homemade or store-bought – or use this recipe for inspiration: Estonian Christmas Recipes: piparkoogid aka Gingerbread Cookies.

SES Jõulupidu / Christmas party
When: Sunday, Dec 15 at 2-4 pm

It’s that time of year – our beloved Christmas party is almost here! Join us for an afternoon filled with joy, traditional foods, and music. We’ll have the choir and a singalong to bring out the holiday cheer! Jõuluvana will also make a special appearance to bring gifts for the children, so be ready with a poem or song to perform to receive the gift.
What to bring:
· A small gift for your child for Jõuluvana to deliver.
· A dessert to share.
· Cash (preferred) if you’d like to purchase anything from the Christmas market.
· If anyone would like to try making Estonian dishes and bring them to share at the Christmas party, let us know! Here are a few ideas:
